The second oldest stadium in the NPB is home to the Yakult Swallows of the Central League. Nestled into the Meiji Shrine’s outer gardens, this stadium offers an intimate experience for baseball fans as everyone is close to the field. This stadium is also home to numerous college games throughout the season as well. It is not unusual for the stadium to be double booked with a college game in the afternoon and a Swallows game in the evening.
With such close quarters, it is not surprising that this stadium is the best location for fans who are interested in getting autographs or pictures with their favorite players. The team offices and practice facilities are actually located across the street from the stadium. Players will walk through the fans usually about an hour or so before game time to head between the park and practice field. This provides an opportunity to try and get an autograph.
There are two lines that will take you to Meiji Jingu Stadium. The first is the JR Sobu Line. Take this line to the Shinanomachi Station located to the north of the stadium. When you get off the train, leave the station and turn right to the south and cross the street to enter into the Meiji Shrine Gardens. If you arrive near game time, you will be able to follow the crowds through the park to the stadium. The second option is to take the JR Ginza line to the Gaienmae Station located to the south of the stadium. When leaving the station, follow the main road in front of you to stadium.
